Miami hotels attractive to buyers

Last week we wrote about a new batch of residential real estate buyers in Miami. It isn't only residential real estate in South Florida that is seeing a rebound, however. Currently, investors are scrambling to get into the commercial market as well. Property deemed to be prime, possibly on the waterfront, is the most desirable. Properties of all types, restaurants, condominiums, parking garages and hotels are being snatched up.

The investors in the properties are coming not only from the United States, but from around the world as well. Brazil, Peru and Turkey are just several countries from which investors are popping up. While the area has always been desirable, the apparent stabilization of the market is making the now affordable property even more appealing.

Hotel real estate transactions in Miami on the rise

Much has been made about recent signs of a real estate recovery throughout South Florida, in the residential market. The sale of commercial real estate is improving in the area as well, particularly in Miami when it comes to the buying and selling of hotels.

A report recently released by real estate advisory firm, Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels, indicates that 2011 saw an increase of 154 percent of these sales. The trend is expected to continue so that the rate of sales will return to prerecession levels. The reason for the increase are basic economics. There is currently a huge demand around investing in the Miami hotel market and very little in the way of a new supply.
